Adelaide Zoo Jan 9

Who will be at the zoo tomorrow night? I'll be there, assuming our cat is back to normal after a visit to the vet tomorrow morning.

Cheers

Beautiful photos as usual Fozzie, especially the tiger :-) I'll put up a few in the critique section later.

Looks like a nice night at the Zoo! Sorry I missed it.

Was on my way to the Perth Airport today and happened to drie past the Perth Zoo... this was at 3pm and my flight left at 4.25 ... so obviously I parked and went to the zoo!

I spent exactly 15 minutes there, actually jogging around having a quick look, and taking photos as I jogged past different areas.

It a great Zoo... for example - the central park area is about 5 times the size of Adelaide Zoo, and the whole thing has a much more animal-friendly feel about it .. I'll post a couple of my snaps when I've downloaded them. I didn't really get a good look, but from what I saw I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone heading there.

Cheers

Fantastic work as usual Fozzie.

What is the patch on his/her right foreleg?

Also what amount of saturation (if any) do you add to the tiger shots?

cheers

Looks like it was recently shaved - maybe for a drip or something?

Fossie lovely tigershot - first time Iv'e seen him face to face I usually get the other end . Lehmur has great eyes (can you see your reflection yet ?) and the birds got nice colour and clarity from behing that awful cage.
I got caught up last night but should be there next week
Have fun

Damien - for PP, I use a very simple product from Google called Picasa3

http://picasa.google.com/index.html

With the Tiger shot all I did was:

1- Basic Fixes tab - Manually cropped a small amount - Apply.
2- Effects tab - Opened 'Sharpen' - Apply.
3- Effects tab - Opened 'Saturation' and slide the bar a small amount to the right, until the colour is what I remembered the subject to be - Apply.

And that is that, and the finished product is what you see above.

Fozzie,
The Tiger and Lemurs shots look really great. They seem even clearer and sharper than normal. I can only put that down to the even lighting.

In the dark areas on the left of the tiger shot, you have some blue pixels showing up. You've had the issue before haven't you?

Daniel - I can not see it, but this does not mean that I do not believe you. It may mean a tad too much saturation. So I have cut that back a tad with this one. How does it look to you now :?: I am processing these on my notebook which is most probably not helping as well :!:

Fozzie, it was in the first pic, you have to look at the black band of the tiger LHS. It was a result of saturation, the pixel is there in the second pic but no longer blue. Now if you truly want to get rid of it you could always come over to the otherside!!!! where in the low light the colours are clean and they just pop.. just teasing. Actually you do have a Canon - time to break it out!!!

Great shots from everyone but think Tony and 'the' Canon have won this round ..
would be interetsed in a blow up of the monkeys eyes - certainly some sort of reflection and looks like you are picking up the double flash ???

It's much better in the second shot, but it does look like the Blue part of the noise is brighter than the other colours. I don't know why should be getting his with ISO of only 320...
Did you shoot RAW or JPEG? I've never seen this in my own shots, but I don't use Picasa.

Why would he be crazy enough to do that, when he can get a D700 or D3!

Big V, great shots. I particularly like the Lemurs.

tho we bow to the Canon master and his fancy flash :P I think most of of us head along to these nights just to pick up one or two tips or some pearls of wisdom from very generous people such as Big V and Fozzie.

Here are a few of my efforts on the night for your CC

You guys are such show offs. Each of you has some great captures. Fozzie - the tiger is great, but the lower OOF part of the bird image distracts me. Big V - the lemurs are trhe standout from your group and I particularly like the strong composition with the crossed bodies. Rookie2 - the hippo is great - nice and sharp and an interesting pose. I'd say from these images you all had a great night
