DSLRUsers Exhibition 20/03/2010 Pls CONFIRM Attendance

Postby biggerry on Fri Mar 12, 2010 1:07 pm

There is still time, if you can get images to me by the end of the week 19th March we can still fit them.

The best image will be selected on the night and we need numbers there to critique and vote for the best! Did not get a print done? come along and see what the finished images look like! you can still vote and be part of it!

What:

DSLRUsers Exhibition Images, Canvas theme
Best image selected on the night will get a $200 Gift Voucher from Zimprints for Canvas printing! Image will be selected by those who turn up and via a secret ballot.

Where:

510 King Street
Newtown, Sydney NSW

Zimprints (http://www.zimprints.com.au/)

When:

Opening night 20th March 5pm onwards

Its great to see some more interest and people making the effort to get involved :up: Are you interested but have not yet found a picture? feel free to post a few up and the wonderful members here will undoubtly give some feedback!! There is still time to squeeze more in, just PM me or reply to this thread or the linked one below!

EOI and History Thread over here : http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=38518&p=407068#p407068

Not the right time for you to get a print done? not a problem either - feel free to come along on the opening night or even just drop in for 5 minutes during the exhibition weeks.

It would be great to get people together on the opening night, even if you don't have an image, your opinion is valuable. Come for just 1/2 hour! or stay the whole night, have a few beers etc, it will be fun either way :cheers:

Who:

Listed below is the ledger of people interested, pictures submitted and payments, I will update this as necessary.

Your name not here? PM me and we can fix that :up:

I would say 5-6pm, this gives peole who are travelling time to get home afterwwards etc.. this also gives the option for nibbles and drinks followed by dinner or just have an early dinner before turning up. thoughts?

I'm looking forward to coming along.

Hi Guys,
I'm Callan, owner of Zimprints gallery and the one that will be busily printing, coating, stretching and hanging your awesome shots this week.
    I just wanted to thank everyone that has submitted a shot;
    Reiterate that it is not too late to enter;
    Offer all DSLUsers 20% off canvas prints ordered in March;
    Advise those that enter the exhibition may get different shots printed at the same size & price in March.

Looking forward to having you guys here on Friday night.

Cheers,
Callan.

Sale price for prints - as the prints are roughly the same size, I recommend keeping the price the same. I don't believe that it will be difficult to come to a consensus on the night that will probably fall between $250 - $350.

Cheers,
Callan.

I can run with that, this is inline with a few comments that came with images...

Offer all DSLUsers 20% off canvas prints ordered in March;
Advise those that enter the exhibition may get different shots printed at the same size & price in March.

Great to hear people are coming along for the opening night! can we get everyone who is planning on turnign up for the night to post here so I can get an idea of how many people will be there - I am organising drinks and food and would liek some idea of the numbers!.

Also we are going to make a poster to hang out the front to get a some advertising, does anyone have any objections? More importantly is anyone NOT going to have their image for sale and have objections to having a thumbnail on this poster??

I have done a real quick poster design - note i am crap at this so if anyone can do better feel free to knock something up!

I have no objections to a sale either :-) (not that I expect one, hehe). Have an awesome opening night and please post heaps of photos of us inter-staters.

Might be difficult to photo 'us inter-staters' if we're not there! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am adding websites and business names against the photographers..I know its super late notice but if you have a webbie or specific name you want to be listed as let me know by earlier tomorrow (10 ish)

Also if you have a caption or title for your image send that along too.

I have taken webbies from signatures...let me know if you do not want this!

A big thank you the Gerry for getting this organised, and to Callan for agreeing to host this in his establishment.

It was good to catch up with everyone who was there, and I think it's fair to say that a great evening was had by all.

The images ... simply stunning. Callan does great work, and the images looked simply spectacular, with a few of them looking more like paintings than photographs. I would encourage everyone in the Sydney region to wander down to Newtown over the next couple of weeks, while these images are on display, and enjoy them. I doubt you'd be disappointed.

I think I saw Philo absconding with Cameron's camera, after taking a few photos, that is.

We left early, but I think most others stayed on, with perhaps several retiring to the Korean BBQ next door. I'd already had my fill of opening-night sushi ... and now I have some radio prep to do.
