Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

#2 is especially stunning.

Nice to see some images Greg, hope all is well up there mate.

To be honest they are nice shots, however

I don't agree that they are spectacular. I think this is a good example of how differently people interpret images and I love this, cause as I always say, it would be shit boring if we all agreed .. right?

So, i call on the other posters to share their vision on why they think the images are spectacular, this is not cause I am having a dig, quite the opposite, i want to know what am not seeing.

I like the second image and I like the layering of the landscape from the front to back, however I feel the rock is too prominent and causes a visual block for the viewer, possibly a slightly higher perspective would accentuate the curves and flow better into the canyons and cliffs...

I do think #2 is superb. Without the background it would look like a picture from Mars, but the the horizon gives it perspective. The flowing rocks make for a marvellous picture, in my humble but often misguided opinion! :)

Well, to start with, the scenery is somewhat better than the office parking lot :)

But let's look at the B&W conversion here as well; Greg a wonderful range of greys in this image, ranging from pure white, to a full black, with pretty much everything in between. That means that he's nailed that part of his post.

Add to that the composition which, whilst aided by the actual location, is Greg's vision and experience coming to the fore. The weather conditions appeared to be an aid here, with the wonderful cloud cover, but that would not have been able to have been realised in the manner that we're seeing it here without Greg's post.

Pam's mum died. So did my computer. I've been in hospital three times. All this year. But hey! Cam came up and we took some photos so yes all is well.

Thanks for prompting some extra discussion. I tried a higher POV on the rocks but it didn't work so well IMO.
