JIm,

Watch your horizons: the first and the third are somewhat tilted; look at the lines on the buildings in the background.

And most importantly, be very careful with your post. These have all been sharpened way too much. There are significant artifacts of oversharpening in each of these images ... around the horse's head and mane in the first, around the rider's right shoulder and arm and the horse's rear legs in the second, and just below the horse's body in the third.

Jim,

That's not a problem. :)

Are you working from raw or jpgs?

What tools are you using, and in what modes? Often some processes include sharpening. Certainly, I'm seeing some artifacts that suggest something is happening.

Gary I shoot jpeg fine as i shoot a LOT of images (about 1400 in 6 hrs on this occasion) and I use a laptop on site for display'So i sacrafice the advantage of raw for the convenience of jpeg.Probably out of habit i resize with Elements 4 and normally process with CS4-I will check the settings on Elements 4 but I think only auto levels is applied-
- jim ps any clues to why the WB should vary so much--happy to post 2 consecutive images if this helps
