Plain silly: use SLR lenses with iPhone

Postby stubbsy on Sun Feb 24, 2013 11:08 am

Stumbled across this oddity and thought I'd share it. For US$249 you can now connect your SLR lenses to your iPhone. Yes you read right. One of the strangest ideas on the planet IMHO full details HERE

Guess you need a very steady hand  Here's a pic

Reminds me of a car I once registered during my days working at the RTA; a Mazda Capella with a Ford 302 V8 attached to the front. Why? I suppose because you can.

Hold up, why are the images upside down?

The SLR Mount doesn't have any mirrors inside. Usually there's a mirror inside your camera that flips the image right-side up.

If this is an example of their technical expertise I'd be worried. Real worried.

I was waiting for this sort of observation. (Not your's Greg, but the upside down image bit).

Personally, I think there's a case to mounted to have mirrors inside the mount. Couldn't make this PoS any worse. :)

And just to be clear (but not very) remember that you're still, ultimately, shooting through the iPhone's glass. If that's in any way compromised, like, you know, by fingerprints or grease ....

And at the iPhone resolution and, best of all, you need to both manually focus the lens AND focus the iPhone on the focus screen inside the device while holding phone and lens. How many hands would that take?

Everything on that page in the product description is just brilliant reading. I want to buy one just to reward the extraordinary artistic license they use to sell it. I mean, if you did a parody on this you wouldn't be able to come up with stuff that good.
