I am back from PI. I need to apologise to Russell for the missed messages and failure to call back while I was down that way. Bikes, booze and fun got in the way of trying to organise to pick up the fe, as well as an insane desire to avoid riding in to the 'burbs' of Melbourne. Craig Craig

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!
I pulled the film out, but there were only 13 that seemed to have anything on them. I still don't know where I was meant to stick my SD card (or an old Compact flash card for that matter) ... as it wouldn't stay in the back where the film goes. On a more serious note, the camera has been dispatched to critter with 13 shots on the clock. Registered post in a satchel.
So you should be happy now Patrick. The camera has left (or is leaving Melbourne). It did enjoy the stay though. Russell

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!Guys, I appreciate everyone involved may be busy, however, it would be appreciated if we could get the camera moving to the next person a little more quickly? It took 2 weeks for the camera to get through the first 8 people on the list, and then 2 months for the next 6!
If you are no longer interested in participating, that is perfectly fine; I can remove you from the list. Regards, Patrick

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!Patrick, your restraint is amazing. If it were my plan and my camera I'd be really spitting chips by now. I can't believe how slack some of these people have been.
Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!
I'm Retired. Does that mean I could have kept the camera forever, instead of the 4 hours I actually did Damn missed by THAT much Greg

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!Thanks guys - I tend to show much restraint in public, perhaps to my disservice.
It is currently with Critter in Brisbane and has been since the 13th March, although it was stated that the camera should have moved on by the 20th. I have obviously heard nothing since the post on the 18th March. I can understand people losing interest given how long it has taken to get to where we are. Hence my [soft] plea for a hurry along to maintain some momentum with the idea. Yes, given that it is my camera out there and the film can only degrade the longer it is travelling around in the camera, I am somewhat spitting spuds! Regards, Patrick

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!Guys, I don't care if I sound like a broken record, but can we please make sure we pass on the camera as soon as possible, particularly given the rule of 2 business days being reiterated just recently? I would really like this finished by the end of April as I will have a lot less time after that point to focus on it.
If any of those who haven't participated yet expect to have a problem with this timeframe, can you please let me know? This is really starting to drag on and I am getting somewhat annoyed. Regards, Patrick

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!I can only reiterate what Patrick has said.
When this idea was originally mooted, it was stated, and y'all agreed, that the camera would be passed on within a day or two. Please, all, remember that this was a commitment that you made in order to participate in this exercise. By delaying the passing on of the camera you are breaking that commitment, and in so doing you you are inconveniencing other members here. Is that appropriate? Is that fair? Is that reasonable? Do the right thing. g.

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!Apparently, Oneput has been delayed with the floods and will ship the camera to CraigVTR asap (I have to modify the list again).
I am hoping to get this back by the end of this month as I will be out of action for a few weeks come early May due to the new arrival - finding time to process and have them scanned, whilst not long in and of itself, will be difficult. I am as frustrated as the NSW people who did move the camera on very quickly and efficiently. I am also very appreciative of their efforts. For those yet to receive the camera, can you please let me know if you will be unable to stick to the two business day rule? If you can not, I will have to take you off the list, for which I apologise. Regards, Patrick

It takes you 10 minutes to get from the North Shore to Hornsby? That's pretty quick. I think that can be arranged. Refer email about 5 posts previous. Regards, Patrick

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!For those out-of-towners puzzling over this...
Upper North Shore = Accessible by train through North Sydney from the CBD. but see below. Lower North Shore = No train accessibility Catch a bus from CBD via Harbour Bridge get off before Spit Bridge Lower North Shore (Alternate definition)Accessible by train through North Sydney from the CBD Get off before Chatswood. Northern Suburbs = Accessible by train through Strathfield from CBD Get off after Ryde. Northern Beaches = No train accessibilty Catch a bus from CBD via Harbour Bridge and Spit Bridge Anywhere else = You are a Bogan Greg

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!
There is no "Upper" north shore - the 'shore' should extend to suburbs which are on the 'shore'. Even Crows Nest wouldn't really be considered the North Shore. When it gets to a stage where you are closer to the sea than the harbour, calling it the "North Shore" is a bit of a stretch.
That is obviously correct! Regards, Patrick

I joined the forum the other day to witness the one of the most fascinating event you guys have organised. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing the results of this epic journey of FE. But it is getting too slow ... P.S. Bogans rule
Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!
And, of course, dyslexic Bogans will untie. We all know that there are just two types of Sydneysiders: those who live in the Eastern Suburbs, and those who aspire to live there. g.

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!
Frame 15? Ok, can we please ensure that the camera moves on within 2 business days? I really don't want to be chasing people and it is otherwise unfair on those who have participated within the requested timeframe if I have to. It is also unfair on those still waiting for their turn. Since the camera first left NSW, the whole process has become very much a PITA. Regards, Patrick

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!It's been a while I'm having trouble remembering what I shot
Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!I took my shot a couple of hours ago but may have stuffed it. Set the apeture, shutter speed, wound on the cf card, cocked the winder, poked myself in the eye with said winder, pressed the shutter release, click...... ......shit the mirror has not dropped back into position. The 64 cent question is did the shutter close or jam open?
My Richo used to do the same thing when the battery was low, move the shutter speed to bulb and the mirror drops and the camera resets. The FE reset when I moved the shutter speed to m90. All now appears to be good. I will send the camera on as soon as I hear from Foonji. Russell do you want me to replace the battery first? Craig

Re: Nikon FE Trip REPORT!
The batteries were new when I sent it in January however, it is feasible that the meter had been left on at times over the last 3 months. Replacement wouldn't be a bad idea but I don't think that would be the problem with the shutter. Regards, Patrick
