Nikon announces two new lenses - 24mm and 16-35

Nikon has now release two new lenses, a 24mm f1.4 and a 16-35mm f4 VRII lens, more details at:

Both look very interesting - I hate to imagine the price of the 24mm, however. The 16-35 looks like a pretty good replacement for the 17-35mm - whilst slower, the VR should more than make up for this. There are obviously other areas where they may not compare, but still...

Price for this one is $1259USD, so cheaper then the other alternatives, ie 17-35 and 14-24, for FX bodies.

It does look interesting but I won't be rushing to trade in my 17-35. BTW, that sells for $1765USD on B&H. I can certainly see the 17-35 being discontinued soon.

Knowing about the 24 I was a bit annoyed for not waiting to buy my 20mm... until I saw the price. I don't think I was ever going to buy that!

if only they were a tad more affordable, would love to have lenses like that!! i personally would prefer the 24mm.....very nice!!

About f'ing time ! Both are excellent lens' and I'm in for both so long as they live up to expectations. 2 big holes just been filled and thank God niKon woke up to the need for f4 zooms.
My 14-24 is now officially up for sale.

I now have official Nikon Oz press releases for these ...

16 -35mm will be in store late Feb and the 24mm to be in store later March.

Aust RRP’s yet to be confirmed.

I've asked for review units, but that may take a little time.
