Afternoon clouds - bye bye sunsets
Posted: Mon Feb 20, 2006 10:17 amNot sure if this should go in the rant section, but is anyone else in Queensland and Northern NSW completely frustrated by the afternoon clouds that spoil any chance of a decent evening photo shoot?
For the past fortnight or so I've been trying to nail a series of long exposure, twilight photos around the Gold Coast. And every afternoon the clouds come over the mountain range and turn the glorious late arvo sunshine into a muddy, diffused gloom.
It wouldn't be so bad if these clouds were proper storm clouds - at least then we'd get some badly needed rain and I could even shoot some lightning strikes. But they don't even have the decency to do that. They're mostly high altitude clouds and they disappear a couple hours after sunset.
Oh well, its one of the perils of living in the sub-tropics I suppose. I can't wait for winter and dry, fine days and cool nights.
