Candid with Canon 5D plus 135 f/2

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Still in awe of this superb camera. I took this shot yesterday of a young woman at the Quay. One thing about the 5D is that sharpening is not necessary at all. I know I have good glass but its still a novelty :D

Sheila - you may be in awe of the 5D but to be perfectly honest I was in awe of your pics from the 20D :wink:

It’s not the camera but the three other factors - eye/brain/finger :)

I nearly jumped ship because of that camera and Nikon's reluctance to go FF, but then i heard of users problems with it. But i figured it was just DPreview mumbo-jumbo.

Shiela, this image of yours shows to me that there is nothing wrong with your camera at all. :)

Very nice image. There is a lot of interest in what she is doing, reading a book? punching an SMS? Who knows ;)

Sheila, Once again an intriging image. You never cease to amaze me.

On a technical note, have you noticed any edge softness or vignetting with the 5D FF sensor? Also, as your style of photography probably relies on telephoto lenses, have you missed the "APS Zoom" of the 20D? You know, grabbed the wrong lens??
If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??

What I lose with the loss of the 1.6 factor as far as my 300 f/4 L IS goes (and my 135 f/2), I make up with faster AF with the 300 . And because its a very much larger file (12 mb if RAW vs. 7 mb if RAW with 20D) it does allow a great deal of cropping with little or no loss of sharpness. This particular image was very heavily cropped and no sharpening at all in PP. What is also astounding is the viewfinder - bright and large. For my 60 year old eyes, its a boon :D.

There is vignetting, of course, with my 17-40 but I am having a lot of fun with the images which come out of the 5D with this now really wide angle lens. This can always be adjusted in PSCS2.

The young woman seemed to be lost in thought as she sat at the Quay. She had one of those faces which, while not stunning, had a lovely aura about it and to me, much more interesting than most.
