Slight levels adjustment and desaturation

GarbageI saw these bins against the wall in the late afternoon sun, lit with some light reflection from nearby windows

The lighting is all wrong in this shot for me, my personal preference would of been more dusk / or night time with glow from a street light or window. The lighting here is too bright and harsh for my liking, but that's just me.
I don't mind the lighting but the dark patch above the bins draw my attention; is it a shadow, is it part of the wall etc...
