Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

nice stuff,

I thought that first shot was the best one either of us got all day.

I would probably crop a little closer to emphasize the action.

hi

i think you went a bit too much with the crop. it just does not reflect how high he was jumping off the wave. I also like the spay of the sea behind him.

but is it a great shot

just a few comments on the border also,

I prefer just a very thin bead of white, I feel the white is too thick around the image. but that may well be just me.

Agree with Steve's comments on the border. Fantastic capture.

the second close crop is about the amount of cropping I had in mind
but
this crop doesnt work from a composition point of view in that you have the main subject in the centre and you cant see the height above that water.

I would have cropped it so that the surfer is in the upper third of the shot on the right, that way you have removed the plain blue water which doesnt add to the shot and you have plenty of spray and can still see the wave in the bottom.

keeps all the drama of the shot but makes it more intimate cos we are closer and can see the guys features better.
