some more setup shots from hair expo
this set comes from the New Generation Show, showcasing the brightest in the younger generation of upcoming hairdressers, all creations were great
used the 28-70 and sb800 on sc29
i added the blue background in photoshop with the airbrush to satisfy my own aesthetic reasons
This model had one of the best hair creations, a victorian classic with a touch of fantasy
all poses are mine, in most cases the models didn't do them exactly right but it still worked out
pepsi can in background was placed there intentionally
more here, warning big page

Wendell,
Very nice, but #4 is oversharpened, and I suspect that the wb or colour balance is off in these. I suspect that you're too blue or cyan. Without looking closely I can't tell you which, but I don't think it's been nailed as yet.
Warm theem up a bit, and then see how good they're going to look.

Excellent images, Wendell.
The lighting looks quite focussed. You are using the SB800 off camera - do you have a snoot on it?

Wendell, Very well done. I wish that I could do portraits a quarter as well as those. Mine all turn out like sad holiday snaps.
Cheers Peter

Really like the lighting and some of the shots you haven't posted are just as good if not better then these. Looks like you have a good rapore with your models, the camera certainly loves them. Thanks for sharing!

hi
thankyou everyone
backstage shots are fast little time for details but you have to try yur best
trevour
i use 2 cardboard pieces attached to either side of the flash head to narrow the light like a snoot, that narrowingmakes things look more dramatic
one reason why most of my portraits are half length is because the sb800 can only illuminate that much with the snoot, if i wanted to do full length i woudl have to hold the light much further away from the model
and becuase of the snoot increase power to the flash, but sometimes the flash doesn't have enough power and you get light falloff, plus the sc29 cord is not long enough for me to position the light in the right place
this is when a strobe comes in, so right now i find it hard to do full length poses with the sc29 cord and sb800
you can of course just flash straight on but that lighting effect is boring and flat

Nice collection. My question is why would you put the Pepsi can there intentionally, it distracts from the portrait?
Does the name Pavlov ring a bell?

I wish I could take people photos 1/8th as well as you!!!! Beautiful as always
And it can't be her pepsi - she's a model, so it would have to be pepsi max (no sugar )
