Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature. Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread. Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Probably not the greatest pics, but they do tell the dance and hard to capture frames from the light and bright shirts they are wearing.

Next time your attending another dance performance, try a slower shutter speed to capture some movement. Since the subject is all about moving I think it would really help your next set of photos come to life.
Also if possible try different angles and maybe turn off the flash and see what kind of atmosphere you can capture
That particular event has all of the elements that create a photographers nightmare! Poor lighting...highly reflective jackets and shoes but black pants. You did pretty good considering. How would Ihave handled it? I think I would have walked away. Flash would lightup those jackets and blow the shoes. The background is too fussy but there's nothing to be done about that....(perhaps shooting at F2.8 would have helped a little) and the venue just sucks for light. Sometimes we do our very best with a poor bagfull. You got the images and that's always the main thing!
![]() ![]() Sometimes we walk into a venue and everything works for us. We can do no wrong and still get stunning images. At other times no amount of skill will create a masterful image. Photographers love control but if the venue denies you that then use every trick you have in the knowledge that the images will still be fairly ordinary. You done pretty good. Regards
