Light box Attempts

I made a light box today using a old printer box and some white cardboard and 2 desktop lamps, was harder than i thought trying get rid of shadows.

Can you post a pic of the setup? Would make it a bit easier to comment and offer suggestions.

The most obvious things are that the white balance is off. If the surface was supposed to be white, then the pics don't quite show it. Right now they have a pink tinge to it. What you will need to do is place a grey card or white piece of paper, and take a custom WB reading on your camera.

The lighting is still a bit harsh as you can see quite strong highlights on the metallic surfaces. To soften this, consider reflecting the lights off the walls of the light tent or diffuse the light with a white sheet. This will also reduce the lighting power, so consider mounting the camera on a tripod and lower your shutter speed.

With what did you diffuse the lights? Using bare lights going straight into the box with white cardboards does not do much, try covering the 'light entrances' with some white semi-transparent materials.

so i need to cover up the lights with some sort of white material or white paper?

one of the really important materials you need to make a light box/tent is something to diffuse the light to make it really soft and so that it the light source doesnt create harsh reflections off shiny objects. tissue paper is great for this.

have a look at the link Alpha_7 has provided as it works really well!

diffusing is shining the light through something like a piece of fabric, or as NJ said, tissue paper. i bought some polyester for my light box today, will complete my light box tonight maybe

i think you will find that normal white paper is too thick and wont let enough light through. that said i thought tissue paper would be too thin, but its perfect. i just bought a roll of it from my newsagent for around $1
linen might work if its thin enough, give it a go and see. trial and error is the key!
