Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Here is a shot of a light taken by my 8 year old Sam, he's been bugging me for ages to let him post an image for review.

Wow very cool, espeically from an 8 yr old, almost something you'd expect from Mattk, simple yet powerful. Reminds me of a UFO.

Thanks Craig and Yip.

What really impressed me about this shot was looking through the photos and exif and seeing his process in creating this image. Sure he was shooting in using the camera's program modes but there was some thought behind getting the right shot.

This photo below was taken 3 frames before the one I posted, I'm guessing that he used auto for it, then he switched the camera to landscape mode to shoot the pic I posted above.

When I asked him why he chose landscape mode for the other shot, his reply was...
"Dad don't you know? If you don't want the flash to go off you just switch the camera to landscape and it won't"

Nice work around really. :)

Actually I remember when I first started.. landscape mode was a good work around for a few things.

He's quicker than me too.

I'll have to get him to teach me a thing or two this weekend, he's keen as mustard about the MiniMeet on Saturday. He keeps asking me if he can carry the D50, 18-55kit and 70-300G. What he doesn't realise it that I'd be happy for him to carry it, takes the weight out of my bag. :D :wink:

My dad never allowed me to touch his Leica.... I'm stuck and happy with Nikon btw, before lusting kicks in having trying those toys... :lol:

You should be a proud dad. That's a great image. The soft gradation of light from the sharp rim to the centre really draws the eye and the patterns in the concave part around the fitting add nice interest. The angle and the landscape work well together because of the elliptical shape of the light.

I just wish I'd started so early. I might be famous by now :lol:

Yi-P and Peter, thank you very much for your kind comments.
I sure am a proud Dad, both of my boys are wonderful. :D

I believe in sharing my passions and love of things with them rather than keeping them to myself. If they break the gear, pffft.... who cares? At least they will have learnt a lesson, albeit an expensive one. :shock:
