(Warning) Fatal MVA Joyner

Warning on the content of my work from today. There are no directly graphic shots included, or on my website, however the content is obviously not positive.

I attended this job to take 'scene' shots, and thought it may be a good opportunity to try doing the entire scene in HDR. The treatment does not suit the subject, however the details in the shadow add a different dimension for briefing.

I have not embedded the photographs for obvious reasons.

At approximately 1015hrs, crews from 525a (Petrie Pump), 524a (Eatons Hill Pump), and 502l (Roma Street TR) were turned out to the report of a truck vs car mva with possible entrapments on Young Crossings Road, Bray Park. Upon arrival crews reported one female entrapped, and began extrication of the patient. The female driver of the car sustained fatal injuries. The truck driver and second passenger of the car both sustained minor injuries.

You're right. The shots are not positive and are kinda depressing but technically i think are very good.

I would struggle having to see this kind of stuff on a frequent basis. Do you become de-sensitised to it?

Partly. But in reality you could never become desensitised.

I'm sure. I have recently been considering joining the CFA and this was one of my main concerns. My wife is a vet and I don't cope well when animals are suffering. I can't imagine how much worse it must be for people and their family and friends to be in a similar situation.

Do you find it to be a good job otherwise?

Your images portray the mood and realities of a fatal.

iGBH, you become desensitised to seeing dead and injured people, but for me, dealing with their families has always been harder. It can get a bit depressing if you work on someone who is trapped/ejected/injured and they pass away in front of you. But, thats the realities of emergency work.
