A few more from Lithgow's IronFest
Iron - all the way from Milwaukee... this the colour of the bike
Hot - you could sign up for a class and learn to make your own knife
Red - enjoying the show a candid shot
Fire - another shot of the canon... better blast by forgot about the background when framing
We will have to organize a proper DSLRusers meet next year as the place is a photographers paradise

Hi Keith, I wouldn't worry about the background in this one. This shot (pun) is all about timing. You could not have asked for better. Did you have to do many shots to get this?
Cheers
John

Love the last one. Perfect timing. Did you use burst mode to make sure you captured it at the right time?

Awesome shot of the cannon blast! You managed to nail the exposure in the first shot as well which is great considering the amount of chrome on that thing.

thanks for the comments
the canon shots were taken in burst mode @ 5fps, on this canon there is about a 1/2 sec delay between the operator touching the primer powder and the muzzle flash so basically you hit the shutter button when he touches the primer and you should get something useful on about the 3rd or 4th frame
I didn't get any usable shots from the other canons as you couldn't see when they were about to fire them
the cloud cover helped a lot with the exposure on the bike

Canon shot is brilliant, what shutter is that?
Such a shame about the forester in the back
Nikon D80, MB-D80, Nikon 50mm f/1.8, Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8, SB-800, Sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3
Various bits of borrowed/stolen glass/speedlights etc. - zero style or taste.

ISO 200
f 2.8
1/640
135mm (my Ais 135 2.8 manual focus lens) using aperture priority
the other canon shot from the first thread was 1/320
