For those who don't know, this is a pelican, surely the world's most oft photographed bird?

This is an osprey, or hawk, or some sort of critter.

Down by the riverside...Took my new 30D and 70-200 F4 out on a friend's boat today and chased some wildlife. Bit tricky photographing on a rocking boat but some shots came out OK.

My guess is an osprey, but my wife said it's a hawk??

I don't see any hawks that look like it in Simpson and Day, but there is an Osprey in there that looks rather similar to your pic
