Alex,
the image looks rather subdued, but maybe that's just what it takes to capture the actual mood and atmosphere up there. Chris, I like the Pro/Con commenting style. Maybe this could be adopted more widely, to encourage people to give honest critique rather than saying nothing (because they don't want to sound negative). Cheers Steffen. lust for comfort suffocates the soul
Hi Alex
I would like to expand on Chris's comments. I think this photo suffers because it is neither one thing nor the other. If it is meant to show the stunning landscape, then the foreground is unnecessary. On the other hand, if it is meant to show the living environment of the hill tribes, then all the sky is unnecessary, leaving the pic showing the foreground and present middle-ground, the hills. On yet another hand (that makes three ![]() ![]() I hope this is taken as it is meant - constructive criticism designed to have you think about what message is important for you, the photographer to present to me, your audience. Thanks for the comments, everyone. Chris - I like the format of your critique. It's helpful.
I think this shot serves more as a memory for me, as cricketfan mentioned. I guess I wanted to capture the subdued atmospheren of the village/ sort of half-dead environment. Cheers Alex
