Black and White Land

Hey Everyone,

I'm back from 9 days at the snow with lots of photos to share. Here are a few black and white landscapes to begin.

Taken with the D200 and Tokina 12-24mm.

Great Pics Kris! Particularly the first

I like the first two in B&W but for some reason the third screams "look at me in colour!"

Have you tried adjusting the levels in the first two to provide more contrast? I think having the sand as a dull grey instead of brighter white makes the image a bit lacking in contrast.

Piro, yes, but I was trying to retain some texture in the snow. Might push them a bit further though.

Hate to say it Kris but the first two just have no punch at all. The third is better but comes alive in colour. Maybe the black and white of snow country would look better in colour anyway

I like b/w #3, lots of texture in the rock and clouds.

I like the third one in b&w. It is very nice in colour but I find that b&w really suits it.

I appears to me that the rocks warm up during the day thus keeping the surrounding snow at bay; looks great.

Thanks for your thoughts. I think part of the problem with the B&Ws was that I had my screen brightness up too high. I shall adjust for the next lot.
