China pics

I've just returned from a photographic tour of China - what an incredible experience! The scenes, people and culture are absolutely overwhelming - a delight to the travelling photographer. I travelled with Grasshopper Adventures and can wholeheartedly recommend them - Jason and Ewen were just great, and even now I'm looking at joining them again next year.

Here are a few shots that I like...your comments are very welcome.

I'm with them; love no 2. Lots of depth, leads you into the scene and makes you wonder what's around the corner.

3 excellent images but the first really stands out for me. You have captured a lovely sense of movement, light, colour and culture with #1. Nice work!

Very nice Frank, and well done as you have sparked something inside me i have been thinking about that would be good to do is to visit China for this reason. I have never really been anywhere since i was a kid like for a good holliday so i have looked at there website and looks like about $4,500 trip and i guess you still have to get there but all the guess work is done for you for the 2 weeks.

Well done on the pics all good and no doubt lots of others as good.

Cheers

Yep, these small group trips don't come cheap, but as you say, they do take care of pretty well everything from start to finish, without being over-organised and still allowing a good deal of free time to ourselves. A good example of this was our trip to the Great Wall - instead of going to the section closest to Beijing which is overrun by tourists, we had a 3 hour bus ride to the see a more scenic and less visited section, even leaving at 11am so we could be on the wall to catch the late afternoon light (which we didn't get because of the mist). The 6 hours on the bus were well and truly worth it.

One of the best aspects of this trip was that even though it was a "photographic" tour, it really was first and foremost a journey through China that could be photographed, if you know what I mean. And because Jason and Ewen obviously know and appreciate the land and people so well, there was always the feeling that we were getting more than just a stock-standard tour.

And thanks to everyone else for your comments
