Crab & Huntsman Spiders

This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Crab & Huntsman Spiders

Hi Guys,

There wasn't much out this morning (that I could find). All I got a half decent picture of is a lonely old crab spider. (At least that's what I think it is).

Since I didn't have much to work with today I thought I'd go through some older unprocess images. Found this one which I quite liked...

lvoe the second one. great sharpness and the colour contrast between the spider and the wall is great. really nice job.
perosnally, i really dont like square crops so thas my only criticism of it.

colour contrast between the spider and the wall is great

:agree:

Good angles and nice dof...but as rooz said, the colour contrasts really do it for me. :up:

Nice shots with good detail and lighting.

The first one is a little too tightly cropped top and bottom for my liking. I believe the first one is also a huntsman. The body shape does not look right for a crab spider.

I always find it very hard to ID insects and spiders. Here is a link to the page that made me think it is a crab spider:

What do you think? The description also says they are common in eucalypt forrests, which is where I found this guy.

Ah, yes. It could be that one. It is quite different from the "usual" crab spiders.

just kidding.
The images are great, I just don't like the creatures - especially whent they are INSIDE the house :shock:
My wife tried to remove a large huntsman from a wall with a vacuum cleaner (strong vacuum cleaner I may say).
Large huntsman wouldn't let go, strong vacuum cleaner not strong enough - wife was not impressed.
Huntsman too large to capture with cup or glass - ehhhhh :shock:
