Matt, these are very fine images. Spot-on exposures, lovely colours and excellent composition. :D

I can only assume that you have deliberately chosen to not have straight horizons, as there are a few of them.

Are you happy with the results?

all skillfully taken, the first however appeals to me because of the colour of the sky whiuch is really hard to capture, were you on a boat at the time of taking it or on one of the islands opposite walsh bay?

Did I hear "Eine kleine nachtmusik?" :)

Great series of photos, Matt. I love the cloud colour in number 1, and the matching coloured reflections. You captured those clouds wonderfully, as did Stubbsy.

Number 2 has the same distortion mine had in the buildings. I think if we all stick together and say the buildings really look like that, we have enough evidence to back that up. :)

I really liked the compostion of number 3, I've learnt something there. I like the centering of that Shangri-la building and the layering of the buildings behind it.

Number 4, Oh, why didn't I get one of these? :D The composition is beautiful.

I like the colours and compostion of number 5. That colourful ride on the left is great for slow shutter photography.

The opera house has great detail considering it was taken from miles away. I would have like to have taken one of these, but there was no way I was going to change lenses in that wind.

Matt

#1 - great capture of what was a spectacular scene

#2 - I really like this one. The tall buildings have that great afternoon glow and Luna Park is well exposed too. Only niggle is the foreground rocks etc are a little dark which makes me want to peer at the image to see what's there

#4 - I like detail shots like this since we don't normally see this part of the bridge up close. Taken with 80-400 VR I assume

#5 - My equal favourite with #6. The blurred spinning wheel is a nice counterpoint to the ferris wheel and the whole shot is nicely exposed. This is a great example of why some shots work better at dusk than after the sun has set.

#6 - Other equal fave - The lighting is great - I can see the detail in the sails and the rims have that nice golden glow from the lights. The shot is rounded out for me by the streak of a boat in the foreground.

These shots also show the benro worked - not bad for an aluminium cheapie

#5 for me... the spinning wheel does it!
