After seeing all the great closeups posted to this forum I decided to purchase a set of closeup filters for my 70~300mm G lens.
This was shot with my D70, 300mm + 1x filter and SB800 then PP and heavily cropped in PS.
Any comments or tips on using this combination?

Cheese! you've brought the value of that lens up to the high standard!

Great details and sharp with my eyes.

Thanks Birddog. I now need to increase my average of 1 keeper in a 100 :D

I like this - I think the 'value' of this lens comes in around f9, which just happens to be what this has been taken with. Slightly more dof would have helped, as the hair on the bee's back is not as sharp as other parts of the pic (fussy aren't I!), but overall a great shot - and proof the lens isn't as bad as some outside of this forum claim!

Looking forward to seeing more from you Greg :)

Great shot Greg,

I've got the 70-300ED, certainly looks tempting to get those closeup filters.

Cheers,

Radar

Greg

One to be proud of - especially since you've used the much maligned 70-300G lens.
