Taken back in Autumn on one of my trips out into the country.
I have quite a few variations on this bridge. With, without reeds, landscape/portrait etc. So you can be critical if you like as I can come up with some other variation. What would really have topped off this image is an old steam loco to be puffing along across the bridge

B&W version for me. Excellent compositon.

Seems that the left hand side about half way down has lost a bit of tonal range in the B&W conversion. Maybe try to burn the area around the tree in a bit.

Otherwise, love it.

edit: came back to it again. The black and white would sit well with the old strictly film fuddies in Amatuer Photographer (UK). Don't get me wrong, I used to love shooting this type of scenery with Ilford Delta 100. Fantastic.

K, will give that a go. Was just a quick RGB->LAB Color mode and used the intensity, will have to give those filters that Leigh told me about a go.

Hey Darryl where are the birds? The reflection looks great. Looks like a shimmer filter has been applied. I know it hasn't, but it still has that look.

I used that same spot about 4 months ago for a fashion shoot. It was like 10 Deg. C and then rained. So we headed to the pub for a nice hot meal. It's a great spot and I hope to get back their and use it again some time. Nice images.

Yep it's a cracker of a spot Hudo. My eagle eye spotted it when on a drive going to Muldon with Mum and Dad. So I revisted it this year on a perfect Autumn Day to crack off a few shots of the reservoir, park and the bridge.
I like old structures like this as they have the european feel to them from the early settlers. I'd like to find a few more spots like this but it's a bit of a potluck game. It's not like you can do a google search for them

Jethro, no birds mate as I've been taking a break getting my photo collection sorted out. Which is just about complete at the moment. Except for about 1000+ photos lost when I went to Warnambool/Port Fairy/Tower Hill for the week. I'm hoping by some miracle I have them on CD/DVD somewhere but I ain't holding my breath. Apart from sorting my photos out, I don't have a lens for bird photography so have to borrow Nicoles and with the sun rising earlier and earlier each day it makes it hard to get out before sunrise. Waiting for the clocks to change over at the end of October and then I'll be out somemore.

Fantastic Darryl! What a wonderful spot it is! An old school friend of mine's parents have a property very near there, and I haven't seen the bridge for 20 years or so....brings back memories! It is a magical spot, and you have captured it beautifully both in colour and your B&W conversion. Well done!

Darryl I like both. I personally think just a tad more off the sky keeps the viewers eye on the glorious scene below. Just a small point, then again it's all in the eye of the beholder. Just scroll slightly down and see what you think?
Wonder what it would look like with an infared filter? It'd be interesting.

Thanks Stormy, there are quite a few other places around there that I want to photograph along the river but I kind of got lost out on a bush road and ended up having to cut across country to get back on the highway.

Marco, I felt that the sky had an integral part in the scene with the colors from dark blue to white. I did look at the crop off of the sky but it would also mean cropping off the reeds to balance it out, otherwise it'd be off centre.
I do think an IR filter would be fairly interesting but I don't own one of these. Not sure how much an IR filter would cost for a Cokin system as I don't really want to get any more standard type filters. I want to make the move to Cokin once I've come to grips with my latest photography purchase.

I see your point Darryl. Terrific image all the same.

Marco that's not to say I'm totally disregarding your point of view. I'll post up a few other variations of this image. I got a few of the same scene with and without the cloud formation and in portrait/landscape.

Very nice composition. Like both, but I think I like the colour one more - just because it really adds to the shot.
