The Money Shot in Print

Hi All, Well sent my pic to the shop today and went down and we printed it to 20x30 with no problems, ok this is not a great shot as the ferals are to rapped up in TV and but gives you an idea. The camera shop would like to stick a copy up in there shop maybe even if i allow to sell them and i just get what i want, but will see what happens.

I am not sure on exact figures for the pics yet but had email from mate saying so far we looking around 4 figures so will see what happens and anything is a bonus.
Here is Serina and Adnrew with the print, was thinking about block mounting it but might lash out for a proper frame.

Cheers
John
Edit: ok what do you think a good price would be for a pic like this size?

That's great news John and well deserved for the amount of time you have invested in your 'hobby.'

The print looks great and i bet even better in real-life.

Awesome stuff really. Well done.

Looks excellent John, well done - and I'm sure most people will be more enthusiastic about the pic than the "ferals"

Cheers

Thanks Steve, Makes it all worth while and even better to get a few bucks for it mate to help to go towards that D2X so i can take 2 camera's when i go to events. Just as well birdie doesnt take CC or i would have it on the way. Thats what i am working on anyhow, although when you look at shots like this you might think do i need it? But the FPS is what i need as well as faster Focus. This pic was printed from a 3.8mp file.
Cheers
John

Wow - its looks great blown up and printed.

If you could get it signed by the rider - a hell of a lot of $$$.

But as an unframed photographic print I guess between $70 and $200? How much is it to get one printed out at that size?

Excellent John you have achieved what we all dream of doing. Now all you have to do is sell it to one of the rival manufacturers with the slogan, "How important are reliability and safety to you!"
Boy wouldn't that cause a stir. Great effort John, hope it brings in the green ones, mate!
cheers

John that's an awesome shot mate! I'd say at least somewhere around the $100 mark for unframed shot.

What dpi was it printed at for 20x30 out of the camera? Or did you have to run it through a plugin to enlarge the image?

Thanks All, well my pro mate says that i will be known as the guy who shot the Capirossi crash. Ok i got under charged on the print but on my list is $27, shop sells that size to normal customers for $50 so i think s that s not bad and was printed at 200 dpi i think.

Thanks poon for your comments and well anyone wanna sponsor me with a D2X? LOL
Yes i am thrilled and although the shot is not as in focus as we all would like it is the shot itself the action, as in Ducati Marlboro sponsored team, with Marlboro sighn in background, land, sea and air all in the 1 shot.

Action, all the elements in 1 shot. actually there is more shots to this but this is the 1 i loved.
Oh by the way this was shot with D70 and the Sigma 70-200.

Thanks Glen, I think it is cool and i was happy the way the print came up at that size, as photo was cropped a bit and i did sharpen the body of the bike and so on. I have some good shots of Rossi like this 1 i might get done as well.

I took like a 1,000 shots over the weekend. LOL Cant help myself.

John,
It's brilliant to see members doing so well in their journey for photographic exposure. Exciting times ahead for you I'm sure. Keep on shooting these and you will have a D2X and a backup D2X :) Congrats again!

Well done John. goes to show that the D70 is a very capable camera. Of course the lens is the business end of the equation. And dont forget the talented operator.

I'm really pleased for you John - it's a wonderful sports image. That sort of action shot is terribly difficult, and you nailed it.
I hope you get megabux for it. :D

I checked it out at Getty Images sports pix, and your shot stands proudly in that company.

Thanks Trevor, and jethro & Geoff. Yes well would be nice for Getty's to put my name to them, but well that happens so yeh does not matter a lot but thanks.

To be fair! the kids should get 40% share of total the income after all expenses and BBJ get 60% if this is the case
People buy or like the pics coz the two lovely faces, they were pushed hard to be BBJ's models  Look at their faces and you'll read their impressions

Yes well, you can really tell the kids hate it when i ask them to do something that involves a camera. As you can tell. Anyhow Jonsey, camera house did it for me.

Thai, maybe i should have said they cant go to the show this weekend i might have got some sort of reaction from them.

Thanks Keith, just goes to show out lil d70's can do the job and well plug for the Sigma 70-200 F2.8.
cheers

John, you should feel very proud of beating everyone to such a unique shot - I hope the dollars roll in for you because you really do deserve a D2X :D

Thanks Chris, i am trying to get out and make some $$ to help fund it so every lil bit counts. I hope it does well but just a matter of time so yeh it has sold in Italy and my mate has sent some proposals off to different people and magazines. i had the easy job you could say and mate is doing the work so we go halves in what they make so anything to me is a bonus. I didn't go there to make money so i was lucky in if anything is a bonus full stop.

But i am proud that i got the shots and i do so bad want a D2x, but all in good time.

Thanks mate for the coments from all, it goes to show anything is possible for any of us. I always promote this forum who ever i see with a D70 as i have learn't so much from here. I am still a big dummy when it comes to some things, so i continue to learn from friends on here about things i dont know about.
If i sell i sell, if i dont i had lots of fun anyhow, thats my moto.

Great catch BBJ .That picture tells the whole story. Is that printed on glossy or matt ? Just curious as to what works best for pictures blown up to that kind of size .

Hey John

I've visited your site and you've got some great shots! I just moved to SA (Adelaide) like couple of months ago, and I was wondering if you could please tell me how to find race events in SA, it would be really appriciated!

Thanks in advance!!

Hi mdigiX, well i am down here in the south east, i am always at the track here so i know what going on. I would maybe check the papers up there or try website but depends on what events you are looking for. Motorsport up that was is at Mallala so maybe do a search if this is what you are after.
Could you please put that info in you profile so we all know where you are.
Thanks

Cheers
John

Wow, that's a great pic. Hope you can make some money with it. If you have another shot of that Marlboro sign in the background, I'd extend the photo to include it completely and then try to sell it to Marlboro. :-)

Thanks Kerry, yeh well who knows, lot could be done i spose with some PP but pics were on getty's within an hour of the shots been taken. Might have a play with them, sort of been a bit busy with events to play too much and i know i have to learn how to do more in Photoshop, as i am hopeless other than the usual touch ups.
