Another arty farty or really, just a peg?

I had a bit of time on my hands this afternoon as I was waiting for Bel to come home from work, so I took this and it's been inverted. Just a peg or something different? Critique away, good, bad and ugly all welcome :) I've got my thick skin on.

Love it!

It's a shame your name's not Jeff; then it would be a J-peg. :)

Down the hallway, no doubt. Tell her to put them back! :)

This is the kind creativity I strive for, Geoff! :D Did you choose the colour pink (At least I think it's pink! Monitor's just been calibrated, I hope I knew what I was doing), or was it a natural result of the inversion? I bet it goes well in any flavour, from B&W to something you might see if you were on LSD. :)

It's great.

Reminds me of the result of twenty minutes of boredom and 3D studio.

Thanx guys,
The natural colour inversion was a very light kinda pink and I tweaked the colours a bit more from that. Chris, that was bad, but oooh I liked it.

Geoff,
I like the simplicity of this shot and could not imagine it any other colour,. Great creation

Geoff,

Hope you don't take this the wrong way (just being honest), but this one does nothing for me. There's no emotion, no interesting visual aspects (for me anyway). In terms of interesting things, there's just the peg, the texture of the wire, and the colour. None of these does enough for me.

It does look like you whipped it up in some 3D graphics program though, which is kinda cool, but put it this way, I wouldn't rush out and buy this (whereas I would others). Maybe some texture, background, bokeh etc might make it do more for me, but I suppose this is the risk when you go minimalistic: some people just won't 'get it' from the limited elements, and evidently others love it.

The sad thing about this is that last week I was testing my old 1000mm reflex nikkor, f11 and took a shot of a peg on the clothes line about 20 metres away.

except the the angle of the peg it is all but identical to this shot.
I half contemplated posting the shot here with a caption of " is this art or is this just a peg"!!

I was surprised in the clarity I got with the shot considering the long lens.
Cant post it now though, it has been done.

In any case I thought it was just a peg!! I kinda feel the same way about your shot also.
Steve

No offence at all Trent :) That's what this forum is all about...some people like things, others don't. It's a diversity. I just played around with it in PS and then posted it. Would u believe that the background (black) was originally white? Yep..the white/blue of the sky...weird huh!!? :)
