Did a whirlwind business trip to Sydney, so only had time to shoot at night.

Used to stay near here, so thought I'd pop in to see the view again.

Wow,

What an amazing shot. Well done.

Great shot.

Would I be crazy to think that the lighting in the sky is actually a reflection from the bridge? The dark strip in the clouds seems to line up with the bridge. Looks strange.

Nice Shot;

What setting did you take this and how long was the exposure?

Lovely colours! Nice shot. The bridge seems to tilt away (towards the opera house) a little bit, it can be corrected in Photoshop if you wanted to, but you may not bother. :)

Nice pic Gooseberry!

At approximately what time was this taken?

Thanks all for the comments.

This shot was taken using f/18 for 25s. Using f/18 to get that starry effect to the lights on the bridge, although I think I overexposed them. This was taken just before 8pm I think. Waited for about 20 mins after sunset to try and get the nice colours - during the so called "blue hour", just after sunset.

Yeah, noticed that weird darker area in the clouds as well, seemed to be in all my shots - thing is, the clouds were moving and so after 25s they would have moved quite a bit, so strange to get that effect.

Nice shot!

The darker area of the sky is a shadow. There are lights on the side of the bridge which point up, thus casting a shadow in any low cloud or moisture. On some nights the lights attract insects which in turn attract birds, which is quite an amazing sight!

Especially when approaching the bridge proper in a convertible, with the top down. A quick glance up reveals some amazing views.

Gooseberry. An excellent shot of a frequently done subject is rare, but you've managed that here. I love the different light you've achieved in this because of the cloud cover.

tarotastic,

If you like clouds, there are sometimes some spectacular effects from the bridge. I took this and similar ones in Jan 2004. I can't remember if I already posted it, so apologies if I've done so before.

I have always loved that shot of yours Thaddeus. For those that don't live close by, it is Tuesday night which is blue night at the bridge isn't it?

Great catch there thaddeus. Hmm... never seen light shows on the bridge before - is it a regular occurrence or was it some special occasion ?

Glen, blue night ? heheh

In 2004 for the Sydney Festival (which runs during January) we had a light spectacular laser show on the bridge everynight during the festival.
