Some oldies!

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Some oldies!

Well, after lurking around and checking out everyone's photos (very cool, creative and interesting!), I have some catching up to do. So I looked back through my photos and realised I took some fairly decent shots a few years back (2001/2002), using my Olympus digital camera (the one that I used a couple of weeks ago <a href="http://www.d70users.com/viewtopic.php?t=11698">here</a> to take photos in the Hunter Valley).

These are all resized from the original 1600x1200 shots, no cropping or reframing (except the last one for obvious reasons). No PP done. A tad pixellated, due to the JPEG compression unfortunately.


This first one was taken at a footy field in Greystanes (I think?) I had a couple of mates playing for the mighty NorWest Jets (blue & white stripes).. I especially love the power lines in the background.. How's the serenity? 1/400, F/7, ISO100, Approx 38mm

This is one of my favourites. Taken after a sunday arvo game at the SCG (IIRC it was Sydney vs Geelong, and we lost). Long after the final siren, we were leaving, and I thought the sky looked perfect for a photo. Paused to snap the shot, and it worked out just great. 1/80, F/3.5, ISO100, Approx 45mm

Coming back into Sydney Harbour at about 6am, last day of our South Pacific cruise. 1/160, F/2.8, ISO100

It'd been raining that evening, and a small frog had gotten onto the outdoor table - I like the reflections on the table. 1/200, F/3.5, ISO100, Flash, 380mm Macro

My first attempt at piecing together a panorama, and oddly, one of my favourites. I didn't take them closely enough together, so you can see the obvious joins/bends. This is a beautiful winter evening out at Richmond, where the aforementioned Norwest Jets have their home ground.

Hi Losfp. I recognise you from the ocau forums (my name is smakkythecamel on there). You've got some nice shots here, I like the mood that you've captured in the SCG shot.

Look forward to seeing what you can do when you get your new toy :)

Cheers owen - That SCG shot is normally one of the first images I select for a desktop picture at work etc :)

Rarely get a scene that needs next to no cropping/PP etc like that!
