Hi all,
I just saw Alpha's lightning bolts, and as it so happened, I too was pointing my camera into the rain tonight. Hoping for some dramatic lightning show.

Alas, there was a lot of thunder but not much else in our area. Most of the time the whole sky would just light up. So I ended up with lots of shots like this, waiting for a lighning bolt (click for larger):



Finally, when the composition sucked the most, a puny little excuse for real lightning:



Oh well, there are supposed to be a couple more days with weather like this, I might give it another go...

Steffen, looks like a nice dry location for capturing the images from. I think you will get another chance in the next few days

It was a dry spot alright, but I think I'll go find one with a better view. I wish I had finished that cubby house yet...

I can relate to the problems finding a good outlook, I tried the back last night and it wasn't sucessful, then found the carport as it faces both N / S at either end (or there about) offered some protection.. not enough when the wind was up.. but when the storm had mostly past it was safe to be out there.. If we weren't renting I'd make some modfications to our unused garage/shed to make it a lightning observatory...
