Click the Pic to see large!!

This crab spider (Thomisus) camouflages itself amongst a certain kind of flower that these butterflies find irresistable. When a buttefly lands on the flower it darts out and delivers a poison bite to the creature before sucking it dry!!

Nice image with a nice background Taro, now if you had only moved about 150mm to the left there wouldn't be a flower growing out of the crabs arse  I like it and understand with animals you have to take what you get when you get it. Thanks for the background story.

Glen: The flowers are very much part of the photo though!! They are the bait that allowed this spider to catch the butterfly. The spider is grabbing onto the flowers with its back legs. These type of spiders do not hang from their silk. They just hide behind flowers, before pouncing.

Thanks for your comment though.

Ozimax: Thanks as well!!
