You never know what you will find.

Got called to work early one morning at 4am, feeling a bit jacked off.
I knew that as I could finish up by 5am, it probably wasn't worth it going home to come back at 7:30. I drove in to Melbourne to take some "city waking up" shots (which I'm still sorting out).

When I got back in time to work in the carpark, I saw this little fella having a drink.

Light not too good, and didn't quite freeze the action in the first pic.

Is it having a drink or dying???? Birds would usually stand on their legs, rather than have them all bend up under them laying on their bellies.

Like you said though, it's good to have your camera with you at the right time, so many nice images slip by because I don't.

I guess thats life.

Didn't seem to be too weak when it flapped off after it finished it's drink.

Maybe it wanted to be closer to the water?

There have been a stack of these little young ones sitting on our roads around here. They are all hunched up like that one......unfortunately I didn't realise I was bearing down on a youngling, and thought it would hop out of the way like the adult birds do.........

Glad yours flew away
