Nice work for your first go... I'm looking forward to witnessing and hopefully capturing some more of natures fury over summer.

The party next door started on my drive way, happens most weekends. This one ended up in doors because of the treat of the storm. Very social neighbourhood.

Thats a pretty impressive shot, doesn't even seem like its raining in your area when you took the shot ?

I think what makes this shot different is the level of light in it. Rarely do you see a lightning shot where the sky isn't a dark colour, I would be keen to know the shot details in particular the shutter speed.

I think it's a great shot.
