Tissot Product shot

Once again playing with my lights. I wanted to shoot a product as if I was doing it for a magazine. I took the Tissot off my wrist and shot it. It is a used watch so there are scratches. I managed to to remove most of the scratches in CS. Turned out ok I think, but not magazine worthy.

Shot with my Tamron 70-300 on macro.

these will only work if you are going to put text down in the reflection area, as in a magazine cover...otherwise the composition is too unbalanced. Technically they are quite nice.

Hi Neeper - considering the lens used the shots are not too bad. The first one leads the eye with the out of focus element which is a bit of a no-no. Also with both shots to ”see” the product one has to angle their head.

The second shot is the better of the two - single plane and nice focus.

Keep them coming :)

I find the flash/light reflection a tad distracting on #1.

Maybe the second shot if it was in the upright position it would turn out better than on its side on a table..............

1st has too much reflections as others said, and if the watch was facing a bit more left with dial facing the camera would be better I think.

Also, with clock faces you want the hands in a position where they don't obscure things, such as 10 to 2.

Cheers

Good pickup! Watches are always displayed and photographed at 10 to 2. Strange but true.

I've never shot a clock or watch in my life (as main subject) although I'm a bit of a bumbling horology buff. I have looked at gazillions of clock face images though, that's probably why this jumped out at me.

Sounds like a fascinating genre to cut ones teeth on, anyway... Sometimes you just have to get a bit of synergy going between your various hobbies, I guess :)

Cheers
Steffen.
