Recycled Paper Fire, Gibson Island (Dialup Warning)

At approximately 1400 today crews were called out to a fire involving 600 tonnes of paper (approximately 100m x 20m) at the Visy Recycling Plant at 168 Paringa Rd, Gibson Island. 501A (Pump), 501B (Pump), 507A (Pump), 515A (Pump), 850P (BA Support), 850O (HAZMAT), 501T (Fire Control Unit), 850L (Technical Rescue), and 501I (Bronto Skylift) were in attendance. Two sectors (East & West) were setup to control the blaze, utilising 4 on ground monitors. Incident controller was AD Reynolds. An excellent job was done by all crews to contain the fire.

Guess the price of toilet paper is about to rise. Second last shot is the one I would use on the cover or front page. It is beautifully constructed.

:) true....

lots and lots of smelly slosh.... you would think it was a toilet being there.

I like the second last shot also... tells the whole story for me.

Mark these are great shots, while at first I was disappointed by the lack of fire, I was soon enjoying the interesting angles and also the affect the high pressure streams of water create. Also your additional narrative adds to the story, another great piece of PJ.

I find this a really good documentation, with some great water shots, too. The winner for me is #7, fantastic symbolism, very dystopic. Like a Brazil cross Blade Runner cross Terminator scene :)

thanks Alpha_7.... i was disappointed with there being no flames also, but they just did their job far too well. seeing there were no flames i thought i'd have some fun with the water....

Yeah Mark, its almost a terrible thing to say.. being disappointed by the lack of fire.. but your right they did they jobs well, and I'm sure it could of easily got out of hand with all the "fuel" handy to burn up.
