I've got a long way to go to shoot good sunrise shots like LostDingo, but here's an effort from this morning.

Wow! That was quick!
I have to be honest but that particular frame doesn't do a thing for me. I think a solid black would be best, or perhaps black frame with a white matte?

lol it's the default frame in the photoshop actions. I don't like it either, was just messing around with ya :)

Owen this is a great shot, I think you'd benefit greatly if you add a few more filters at you disposal (as LostDingo has), but you captured a beaut shot.

I like the balance of rock in foreground to the right, rock mid-ground to the left and then the sun centred, nicely composed.

Thanks very much for the comments guys. I would love some ND filters... will have to either buy them discretely or ask for them for my birthday!

Lovely colors mate and nicely exposed too, tricky with the sun in the frame like that... Single exposure or merged a couple etc?

Re: the filter, I assume a graduated ND??? Not sure about how useful a screw-in one would be with the horizon "hard-coded" in location, I assume something like a "cokin" or similar would be the go with a grad ND to move the graduation around?

This one is a merged one mudder. I meant I would like an ND filter to stop give me more blurry water... a graduated ND filter would be good for helping get the exposure right though that's for sure.

Owen, this is wonderful. I don't think you are going to be waiting long before you get to lostdingos level, you are well on your way here mate.

Excellent

Thanks Matt.

I don't think I will challenge LostDingo for his timeslot... he can have sunrise all to himself! It's just too hard! :) lol
