I didnt make an effort to capture lightning as I usually do today when this storm blew through as I had enough fun just keeping the car on the road as it gusted about and flanged ground strikes left right and center all the way home from the in-laws xmas lunch. But, once home I enjoyed capturing the colours sunset had painted the sky and this is one of those shots.

Great shot Mark, the cloud colour is very dramatic. I like the silhouette of the trees as it draws the eye to the clouds.

Great capture. Those clouds are so weird they hardly look real.

I managed to get some lightning pics last night - a first for me. The clouds were quite different out at Shorncliffe too, but I was flat stick trying to catch strikes to concentrate on other pics, a missed opportunity .

Judy , it was an interesting storm, I have yet to se the radar logs from yesterday but I do believe the storm had a good amount of rotation to it. I have a fair few other shots that show the cloud following the storm swirling in broad spirals and it was the first time I'd seen this happen here.

as far as I know, what this cloud seems to be is mammatus that has been whipped up a bit. I wanted to take shots earlier but couldnt find places to stop where I could keep the camera dry and shoot the sky.

here's hoping for more storms today
