Spotlight FunPicked up a cheap rechargeable spotlight today so had to try it out tonight and went for a walk around some local scrub. Turned out the spotty gives a lovely warm light when it starts to run low... so I took advantage of it when this Tawny Frogmouth happened across my path.

Bird has that stunned look like "What the F!!!! was that!!!" or "Damnit, 2 more minutes and my *Playbird* would be sticky"

Thanks guys. The lighting was just as it looked at the time - the spotlight was really powering down and only had enough left in it to give a feeble illumination of the bird but nothing else. Sort of set its own DOF.
It really contrasts with some later ones I took with flash once the spotlight had given up. These were taken at 1/250, f11. Focus was a bit off on this one.. ![]() I don't mind this one; it's sharper than the one above but I don't think it's as interesting as the first one in this thread. I much prefer the subject looking straight at the camera. ![]() Simon
