Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

My first attempt at this sort of thing, not normally my cup of tea but I'm happy with the results. Taken during an early morning stroll along the beach while on holidays.

Hi Ghost - beautiful photos. For some reason I can't pinpoint, I really like the second shot - maybe because of the muted pastels??? I find it calming I spose... and the first shot is my second fave :)

One question though - with the 1st & last shots - are these straight from camera? or have they been PP'd? Maybe a little too much contrast leading to the flare from the sun - or maybe natural?

I agree with Rel, the 2nd is very nice indeed. I think the pano style crop really lends itself to the long lines of the image. Quite serene.

For the 3rd pic, I'd personally bring out the foreground a little more (by masking the darkened foreground in PS and perhaps use the shadows/highlight tool - or the levels & curve tools).

Just a suggestion....

Photos like this certainly make it worth getting up early in the morning :)

Ghost, I agree with the others, number 2 is great. Very serene, very calming, very quiet.

Thanks guys.

Rel, the 1st & 3rd shots have been PP'd, brightness/contrast + a bit of USM no colour correction though. I had flaring from the sun at the start, although the contrast correction did exagerate it, I thought the shot was better with it.

Dave I know what you mean. I actually did a foreground shadow highlight correction on #2 to bring the sand in. Here's a sample of #3 with the same done (hopefully not over done!). And a 70mm version of #2.

very nice, not harsh color differences but very smooth colors, very pleasing!

These have come up a treat, the extra PP on the second post of the one with the log in the foreground works well...

Favorite would have to be the first pano, very soft, calm serene image, suits the morning light nicely...

The morning's a great time to play :)
