Macro Madness

I think I am probably close to being sent to the loony bin. But what the hell. Was wanting to see how the Tamron 70-300 Macro shaped up with a similar subject to some of the shots I took last week with the Nikkor 200 Macro.

Here are few that I grabbed today whilst on my travels. The main difference in conditions were overcast today against bright sunshine last week.

I set the lens at around 200mm and left it there. All shots were aperture priority f/8 or f/11, hand held, no flash, shutter speed varied from 1/100 to 1/350.

Hi Slider,

unless my eyesight his fooling me, I'd say
the macro photos you took with the tamron don't even come near the clarity and sharpness of what was shown on the forum with the nikon 200mm.
I thank you a lot for showing these and I am a little surprised that the images aren't clearer and crisper.
Don't get me wrong, the photos are fine but just not in the same league
as what was shown on this forum with the Nikon 200mm.

Cheers,
CD

I thoroughly agree.

Same Camera, same photographer, same subject, Same focal length.

Different lens. Totally different result.

The power of the 200 f/4 micro hey  It's chalk and cheese i'm afraid, Mark. Gee I bet you wish you could get you hands on one. :( Hell you've joined an illustrious group of lens lust loonies
There are some lenses you just have to have and the pictures absolutely justify the desire - the 200mm F/4 Micro Nikkor is IT!! :)
cheers
marco

the lighting would make a fair bit of difference but still not in the same class.
