Topical at the Moment

These are a couple of shots that I took in the Solomon Islands last week. Not POTW material but I thought that as the subjects are fairly topical (around QLD at least) I would post them.

I was on SCUBA and the beasties were being fed. Serious case of Sphincter Constricta as the frame was filled.

Exif 1/250 f4 24mm for both shots. I think that the first shot is suffering a bit of motion blur rather than being OOF. Fast, fast, fast action

Second shot for me, outstanding stuff, the action, colour, must have been quite an experience.

WOW, and you were in a cage right ????????? You are very brave, much braver than I am.

But not only the fact that there are sharks feeding, but also that the waters around there are extremely deep too. Oh and 50+ WWII warships of all sizes on the bottom too.

Did you do any wreck diving while you were there?

Great capturs Steve. It's a wonder the water isn't a little more brown in colour. It would have been had i been in the water

Great shots & very interesting, Steve. Thanx for posting.
You're quite the adventurer - perhaps your forum name should be changed to Indiana Jones.

They are Black Tip Reef and Grey Whaler Sharks. The biggest were around 2 metrres in length. Except for around feed time they are very timid usally darting off into the murk at about the time that you spot them.

I must admit that they had the blood pumping when I took these shots though. So incredibly fast

No cage and bare legs :!:

We were at Uepi island which is an incredible place. On one side of the island the water is less than6 metres deep and on the other there is a drop off which extends down byond 2000 metres. Lots and lots of action on the deep side. BIG hamerheads, Schools of Mantarays and barracuda and in places the fish life is so prolific that you almost have to fight your way through it. Many of my shot were ruined because there was so much life between me and the main subject.

I will post some other shots as I work through them
