Taken with the 105mm Micro wide open at the Welsh Mountain Zoo... He was very obliging and was crowing every 20 seconds or so at the time we were there...
I just wish I'd had a tiny bit more DOF so that the beak and jowls had been sharper...

Nice cock. Very sharp and colourful.

Great shot, I see what you mean about the DOF and lack of sharpness in the beak however this is still a really great shot. You didn't cock this one up

I like it (actually I always like this composition type for animal shots - the more intimate style).

This is a great capture despite the DOF issue. It's easy to be wise in hindsight.

Great image John. Excellent colours. The eyes are sharp that's what is important. You are righ though pity you couldn't get more square on with sensor plane for better depth of field. Maybe next time.
cheers

John,
I love the detail in the comb. Shame the blighter couldn't have faced you a bit more.

Have to agree while the DOF could of been better, this is still a nice shot, the level of detail in the comb is extraordinary the colour is great too!

You have brought back with you an " Avian bird flu"
It's a rooster and it'll be gone in the next couple weeks. End Of Rooster year.
I do like the colour and details in the comb!!!
Is it "Chicken tonight?"

Great colours John.
I agree about the DOF for the beak and jowls but I think this shot works despite that.
That lens might have to be added to my 'list'.
