We had a family outing to the tiny Welsh Mountain Zoo on New Year's Day...
It's a very small zoo, but has quite an assortment of animals...
Here are a few images that I managed to take while the grandparents were entertaining mini-Leek...
Alligator Eye - 1/40s f3.2 105mm onboard flash
Lizard - 1/30s f3.3 105mm (through glass) onboard flash
Python Abstract - 1/30s f3.3 105mm (through glass) onboard flash
Penguins - 1/1000s f3 105mm no flash
(probably the only animal that felt at home in the low temperature)
Flamingo - 1/1000s f3 105mm no flash
Californian Sea Lion - 1/200s f4.5 18-70mm onboard flash

You really worked that 105 didn't you. Really like #1 closely followed by #3.

Nice images, John. I like #1 and #4 a lot.
Those penguins in #4 look like book-ends, don't they?
And you'd swear #1 was a bit of wood, not an alligator. Maybe it's a "logodile".
Well done.

Beautifully done

Lovely work Johnno. Put me down for one Alligator and one Python Abstract as well.
That Flamingo looks frozen!

Thanks for the comments so far... #1 seems to be a hit... Funny how tastes differ... My personal favourite was #2...
The 105mm is indeed a fine lens and even though it's a prime, it has a lot of "range" Excellent for close-ups but also performs well as a telephoto... Highly recommended...

You really are making that lens sing John.
I love number 2 - the sharpess, the colours, the composition, the eye contact...brilliant.
Closely followed by number 1.

John - I just love the penguins and lizard shot. The colour is excellent and I agree that you are working the 105 beautifully

I love the clarity of all of them, but the snake is my favourite. Nicely done.

John. They are all great, but to me the lizard is a stand out
If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??

G'day John. As a nature photographer, especially wildlife, I love checking out any wildlife pics. As with most replies so far, I love no.1 (alligator) for its abstract-feel and also like no.4 ("book-end" penguins) for the composition. Well done!

Love them all, boyo. I, too, put no 1 as my fav. BTW, I bet the flamingo feels the cold.

Does that snake have something white and fluffy that it has squished under it's belly? Nice job, my fav is the "bookends"
Mal I've got a camera, it's black. I've got some lens, they are black as well.
