Conwy Castle by night
There are castles in every other town in North Wales - all built in the 13th century by King Edward I as his attempt to quell the rebellious Welsh. Materials and workers were imported from England at vast expense to build these castles.
Conwy Castle forms part of the fortifications that surround the town. Edward settled the town with English people who lived within the walls of the town. The castle guards the mouth of the Conwy River. Needless to say, while Edward had a short term victory, we Welsh are still rebellious
