I signed up here last week
at the moment I only have a Kodak DX6490 P&S camera, But I'm waiting for my first DSLR (only ever had p&s film or digital cameras)
I thought I should post a few of my shots from the last year so People can get to know me

#1 High contrast B&W model boat racing

#2 early morning long exposure Darling harbour

#3 B&W narrabeen Baths

#4 Night long exposure harbord Baths

#5 I borrowed a friends DSLR to see what the fuss was about (20D) candid Darling Harbour

I used the 20D for only about 3 hrs and was hooked on DSLR photography and was going to get the 20D but before I could talk the wife into it Nikon came out with the D200 And I liked what I saw, So I have one on order

I'm still using an P&S (Olympus) camera too - $$$$ issues!!! :cry:

I love your images - number 2 really grabs me. I'm sure you'll have an awesome time with the D200.

Nice first posts! You have some good shots here and now you have a minimum bar set by which all of your future captures will be judged :shock:

I look forward to seeing more from you, I can tell you do more than glance through the viewfinder and snap away, there is a level of thought and placement with these. I like the Harbord baths, very nice.

Welcome Keith, these are great shots full stop, let alone from a P&S. I'm sure you'll love the D200, and can't wait to see what kind of shots you can produce from a slightly more sophisicated camera! Enjoy you stay, and I hope the D200 arrives soon!

Excellent work, Keith. My only comment is that maybe for #1, you could have turned the camera "vertical" to take in the full reflections of the yachts. Just my two cents.

Number three, "narrabeen baths" needs something else done to it.....

....oh yeah, thats it, it needs to be printed as big as it will go ,mounted, framed and put on your wall. Bloody great shot.

Nice choice on the D200, I'm holding off on it for a second body near the end of this financial year (thats if finances aren't consumed by my child).

All the pics are great, look forward to seeing more!!!!

Only advice I'd give is don't try and do too much with the D200 and lose focus on the approach you have used till now. The shots are excellent and if I were to pick one, it would be #4

#4 was specially taken for the "4:00-5:00am" challenge at dpchallenge.com
I managed to place 2nd with my highest score there, have a look at the first placed shot it is brilliant

my shot was a 6 sec exposure on a cheap tripod (I'll have to replace it as it won't hold a D200)
the Narrabeen baths shot was taken later that morning after the 4-5am window had closed and it was still to early to go home and wake the family

this one is also from the same morning at Narrabeen and is my favorite of the day

Thanks for the link and there wasn't too much in it between yours and the winner imo.
Definately get yourself a decent tripod, this is why I asked in the first place. I was a little worried you may be using a cheapie for now and may be planning on continuing to use it with the D200.
You should shoot some killer stuff with a DSLR! Look forward to seeing more and more of your images.
