Thanks Birddog, my new Sigma lenses arrived safe and sound.

A quick play with the 180 Macro (hand held as usual) before the light went this evening.

I am using the RAW / JPG combo setting and these are the low res JPGs as I can't process RAW on the laptop (takes forever).

The first two follow each other. These bees or wasps stick out a spear as they approach the flower and then dive right on in. Had no idea untill I looked at the shots on the laptop.

1st impressions are very favourable from ease of use, focus, bokeh etc. and it will be a nice telephoto as a bonus.

If those early images are a sample of the Sigma then there could be another order going in very soon

Very nice. Love the shadow of the bee arriving on the petal. For a first use of this lens they are a great sign of things to come. Keep them coming.

Love #4! The DOF effect is very cool.

(and hadn't even noticed the shadow on the flower in shot #1! Must get some sleep)

Slider - Very cool - the shadow shot is great :) Can't wait to see your coming posts with this lens !!!

The crop of the bee and the water shot  are very impressive. I think you need a return trip to the Botanical Gradens, Mark. I am still looking at those macro flower images and with this lens you might be setting up a stall and selling your work. Thanks for sharing! :D

Thanks for the comments folks.

I am still in Rocky and there is a combined zoo and botanical gardens that I am going to check out this morning.

Should be some nice opportunities.

I'll have it with me at the mini meet (of course) so others will have a chance to try it out (but only if Rel brings lollies  ).

BP, interesting that you should mention slave flashes as I have been thinking of a couple of SB600s to go with my SB800. Could be interesting :D

all are great but that 'near miss' shot is excellent!
