Couldn't resist it... the afternoon sun was reflecting off her in such a neat way. The starburst effect is straight from the 50mm 1.4 lens - only PP was some slight sharpening. Love that lens!!!

I know it's a poor composition but I think I could spend several days repositioning and lighting this thing and have a million variations. I just grabbed the camera and snapped a few shots without really putting much though into it. I'll do some experiments with the lightsphere and some different coloured backgrounds (maybe even wangle an invite up to Steve Griffin's place to use his studio lights:lol: )

Comments, except about the daggy half-dead plant in the background, are very welcome.

gorgeous lighting and sexy subject, i see both your passions in this shot, unfortunately don't appreciate your msleading title, i was expecting to see something saucy like some afternoon delight.

Very nice ....... but would have been better without the pot plant......... and a slight blur in the background.........

Hehe - sorry Wendell. You have to compete for the punters in this game and, if nothing else, the title should get a few curious members checking it out, even if they don't comment, which is cool.

but i really ment your Sexy Sax and Photography, you two can really hit a high note, next time photograph that and post.

I had some drink drink and thought something else of the post title.

Its a really nice shot, but would be better if the direction of the light hit the sax.

Nice shot Simon - loose the potplant, do something with the background, and you have perfect stock photo !!! Love the starburst from the sunlight - and the reflections on the wall.

Thanks all for the comments. As I said, I'll play around with some backgrounds and lighting to hopefully capitalise on the sax's reflective qualities. I also want to try some macro shots around the intricate hardware.

Mann, is she oozing saxuality!!! I agree with Rel - lovely shot with great rays of light coming through but loose the pot plant.

Look forward to some new pics in different positions and lighting set-ups.

Good point Chris. I'm thinking of shooting it on a simple black background with some side lighting and something to prop it up without covering any of the bell. Should be able to rig something up and I'm looking forward to it as a bit of a challenge - the thing lights up like a Christmas tree with the smallest amount of brighness thrown its way! Maybe light the majority of it with diffuse flash and pick some areas to spot highlight so I can get those starbursts again... Lots to experiment with.

Oh, I'm actually managing to play the thing too, though my bottom lip is killing me and it's a blessing we don't critique audio files!!

You could try using a number of reflectors at various angles around sax and use some fixed lights (facing reflectors). This would stop harsh light bouncing off gold metal - worth a try.

I like it. Seems that the music is still surrounding and the breeze is coming in while we are dringing an afternoon tea.
If you change the shot to a warm color and it will be a lazy afternoon only
have music and English tea.

Great shot Simon - personally, I would like to have a flat black background - the sax would leap right out.

(Your title reminded me of the title of a shot of a sax playing busker I took for a comp many years ago - called it Sax Maniac)
