Hi everyone,

I have started to process some photos from last year's vacation to Germany.

I'd like to start sharing with you some images of my hometown and surroundings.

These are some images of the Russian Chapell in Darmstadt.
This place is also called the Artists' Colony and the architecture in this area reflects Arte Deco or Art Nuveau.

Christian

What took you so long to PP these.

The first shot of the russian chapel suffers from being chopped at the top, but you know that. The second one is way better and it wasn't until I saw #3 that I noticed you'd cropped out most of the scaffolding in #2 - well done.

In the second group the first pic is the standout, but I'd be tempted to clone out the green lens flare. I'm a sucker for geometrical architecture like this.

Thanks Peter,

If I could only be at those places without scaffolding, lense flare,
stuff in the foreground covering the main object, people walking through the image, etc etc.

I was fortunate though to see these places with my own eyes, 3-dimensional, and that was phantastic.

If I could afford it and also had the income,
I would own on of these houses.
They are situated in a very georgeous valley close to Darmstadt.
Have a look:

Absolutely Christian. Better to have experienced it than not - I'm just jealous

AND I'd also love one of those houses.

If only the walls could talk, assuming it's an original not a repro, imagine the lives and experiences there over the years...

Hi Craig,

the ruins are of a monastery occupied by nuns.
The date goes back to 1263 to 1413.

Thanks, I'd love to visit a place like that steeped with history, stories and the past of others. So far in my travels the oldest place I've been to is Boston which isn't that old in the great scheme of things. It's amazing how well built and preserved these structures are, considering the tools and technology they had at their disposal.

Really like the Art deco shot, pity about the light and shadows... (I few nicely placed SB800's might of sorted that out  )

Really like the last shot of the monstery, the Window inside a window thing is very cool!
