This guy really was not impressed with me creeping up on him, and he dived into the water moments later.

looks like he let you get fairly close!!

the bright water behind isnt kind to the shot, but still a nice shot of a darter. typical pose too, like cormorants, their wings arent exactly waterproof so they stand like that drying them after fishing.
Shame about the branches growing from the head though.
another case for cloning as per the thread doing the rounds about now??

What amazing feet! Claws and webbing all rolled into one.
Thanks for this Oneputt.

I thought the same thing Mal, wouldn't be easily to shop for shoes with Feet like that!

The bird doesn't look all that comfortable, not sure if that's you John scareing it, or if its always like that.

You did get close John, nice work on a difficult animal to catch relaxed. I think you could qualify as an apprentice bowhunter with those stalking abilities  You'll have to come out with me next time I venture north. I need someone to get in amongst those pigs and tell me which are the biggest and meanest boars
cheers

marco, I used to do that sort of thing,

being a few feet from large boars with pointed sticks gets the old adrenaline going!!
still have a few videos and pix from those days.
I often used to go out unarmed and attempt to touch game. or photograph from point blank.
touched a roo like that, a few goats, and around 6 feet from a boar. was good fun go get that close and go boo or whatever and watch the look of horror when they see you. Steve
