What the hell - may as well be the first one off the rank.
This is a shallow DOF shot of the Smooth Darling Pea, Swainsona galegifolia :), a perennial shrub often found on hill slopes with shallow sandy and/or stony soils :)
Rel

Shot of the flower used as a diagnostic feature of the plant in question - essential in the study of botany :)

Post Xmas Apathy, it's hard to get back into motivation mode.

But I'll try.

OK, I know it's not very sharp, but just making up the numbers.

I don't mind it. The lack of sharpness is offset by the saturation and contrast in the colours, gives it a nice warm feel. Thats what I thinks anywhoo... :D

Yeah... not bad, but I should have crouched down even lower to eliminate the lighter bokeh...

Nice shot Nathan... having had a few attempts at this, I know how difficult they are to capture... I particularly like the ball in the middle...

Crikey, I've missed this whole thread till now!

I love a lot of the stylised and dramatic pictures posted so far, but Chris' shot blew me away. It can't say exactly why, but it makes me think I'm looking at flowers, not an image of flowers. Absolute magic. Gives a whole new meaning to the word "photorealism"... Is this a light-tent job?

Cheers
Steffen.

With Valentines day on the way we should have plenty of material to work with! And the week after - probably plenty of dead material... :(

well, I'll have a go - just a straggly thing I noticed on a bushwalk at Wentworth Falls last week. The other entries so far have been pretty hot - I've been very impressed.

*The way in which parts are arranged or put together to form a whole; makeup: triangular in structure.
*The interrelation or arrangement of parts in a complex entity: political structure; plot structure.
*Something constructed, such as a building.
